Heeramandi: An Over Thought Out Review

You Have No Power

I am shocked, furious, and disturbed over the Pune Porsche case. Two people have died—DIED!—and the rich brat who mowed his car over them was out on bail within 15 hours. His "punishment" is to write an essay on accidents. I knew money wielded power, but this is an outright abuse of it.

I am disappointed with the Pune Police. How can they be so lenient? I've always believed that the police are here to serve and protect citizens, and my personal experiences have affirmed this belief. Yet, in the face of this case, I shudder to think of their leniency.

What frightens me most is the apparent loss of our collective will and belief as citizens. We’ve lost our capacity to think critically, to question, and to demand justice.

We are so scared of not ruffling the feathers that we are nothing but a part of a herd, just keeping our head down and walking along the long narrow path to doom. But do know, that when things turn around and you are the one in need or facing injustice, the herd you are now a part of, would still be on their path to doom, leaving you alone to fend for yourself.

But remember, when the tables turn and you find yourself in need or facing injustice, this very herd you conformed to will continue on its doomed path, leaving you alone to fend for yourself.
