The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie – Book Review

Have you ever wondered how different your life would have been, had you made a certain decision in the past? We all at times dabble with a few ‘What Ifs’? And this book is a comforting read if you are going through such a dilemma.

The book is about a heartbroken young pie maker who is granted a magical second chance to live the life she didn't choose.

Reading this book, during a particularly melancholic phase of my life, gave me a perspective. As I read the book, I at times felt comforted that it’s not like every decision I didn’t make would have ended in a happy ending only. At times, it did make me wonder; and at times it gave me hope and encouraged me to forge forward no matter what.

Which is why I would like to recommend this book to anyone who is either looking for a comfortable, easy read; or someone who is living in a ‘What If’ situation right now.

Some of the quotes I liked in the book are:

Little acts of kindness were often a balm for hurting hearts.

“You know what the Bhagavad Gita says about greedy people? Lust, anger, and greed are the three        doors to hell. Not my words. Lord Krishna’s.”

Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature.

Often we say “impossible” when what we really mean is “unknown.” So many things are possible;         far fewer are known to us. You will discover this soon enough.

  1. Looks like a good book. Will certainly look for it. Have you ever wondered how different your life would have been, had you made a certain decision in the past? I immediately thought of a Tamil movie 12B. (You can Wikipedia it.). A guy on his way to a job interview misses his bus. The movie tells both the story how his life would have turned out if he had not missed the bus. Also, how his life turned out by missing the bus.

  8. Interesting book.
I often think of "what if"- and a parallel universe- in fact, several parallel ones as there are several what-ifs! :)
I like the quotes you have shared from the book - especially the Bhagavad Gita one.

  12. I never thought of a second chance, even though I live a life of hell! I accept life as it is, as I can't change the past and future, which we never know, and I am in a mindset to face what comes next. I liked the quotes that speak the truth! Nice review

  15. I loved this book so much! It's sometimes hard not to dwell on the past and think of the could-have things, but this was about leaving regrets in the past which is something I need to remember.
