Shields Up Or Go With The Flow?

When a crappy situation happened almost four years ago, her coping mechanism was to build up walls around her. Can’t hurt if she doesn’t let anyone in, right?

Since then, dating or finding a significant other was a complete no-no for her; “I can’t go through all of that again,” she used to say.

She firmly believed that when things were supposed to happen, they will happen organically. She would feel the magic of being in love, the butterflies in her tummy would return, she would yet again have someone whose messages she would get to wake up to, someone to wish good night to before going to bed, her world would be rose tinted yet again, she believed.

And sure enough, that did happen. For a brief brief period, her world was turned upside down. She was slowly letting her guard down; everything mentioned above was slowly finding their way in her life. And then Bam! It all came crashing down.

The hurting doesn’t go away, but the question she is left with is, should she have let her guard down?

  1. Ups and downs are a regular feature of life. In a few years all these confusions may even feel silly!

  4. Don't worry. That guy who broke her heart is a loser. Better opportunity awaits for her. Don't lose hope please.

  7. You can let your guard down if you don't go into a relationship with rosy colored glasses and delusional. There is nothing like being in love, but it is often fleeting. The hotter it burns, the quicker it seems to pass.

  8. Life has to move on, right?
Nothing is wrong with falling and rising in love. Some players can score with a single stroke. It may require a few chances for some, but it may lead to strength of character.

  9. I believe it is good to let people in. Even though there is a chance that she may get hurt again, she will never know what good may come out of it if she always keeps her shields up.

  10. We are social creatures. In being so there are those who live to hurt others. We must be aware of the negative people and keep them at bay. As much as we can.
