3 Reasons Why You Should Watch K-Drama

K-Pop has been a rage amongst the country’s teens for over a year now, K-Dramas came next has managed to gain popularity amongst not just the Gen-Z but also the Millennials.

2020, when everyone was cooped up in the home with barely any new content available to watch, K-Dramas came to the rescue, as it was something new that we were not introduced to earlier. And that is exactly what got me to watch my first K-Drama.

So, if you still haven’t watched your first K-Drama, here’s why you should watch it.

Simple mush romance that our normal shows don’t offer anymore
Our romance palette has evolved, and now there are very few shows which are centred around good romance. K-Dramas offer really good romantic stories, they are slow and give you that mushy feeling which our current Hindi or English shows have failed to give me recently. The romance in K-Dramas makes you wish for the slow mushy-puppy love once again. It kind of makes you feel all the things you felt when you had your first tryst with love. For me personally, it was nice to just feel love and ball my eyes out for our star struck lovers once again.

Learn about their culture
What surprised me the most was how similar our cultures are. There are several customs and words that are almost identical in Indian and Korean culture. I did some Googling and apparently it is because there was a Southern Indian princess who married a Korean prince and that’s how the cultures merged. I don’t know how true this story is, but the similarities are mind blowing. These also act like easter eggs that you keep spotting while watching the show.

Clothes and style
And the last point is for all the fashion lovers. The clothes and the fashion is so on-point in these K-Dramas. The characters are always so well groomed and well dressed that you are almost inspired to put more thought into what you wear and how. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the pandemic, and if I was stepping out often, I would have definitely tried to copy some of their styles.

PS. If you are looking for the first K-Drama to watch, I would strongly suggest Crash Landing On You.
